The 2023 Cheltenham Festival is just around the corner and there's not long to wait.
The meeting kicks off Tuesday with four days of high-profile racing at Prestbury Park.
Tuesday's action sees Constitution Hill improve its reputation by winning the Champion Hurdle, a year after its emphatic victory in the Supreme Novices' Hurdles.
He will face six rivals including the pair of Willie Mullins, State Man and Vauban, who respectively won the County Hurdle and Triumph Hurdle 12 months ago.
But Honeysuckle, who has won Day 1 for the past two years, will not be among the Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old's opponents.
Instead, she will be looking to win the mare barrier a second time after winning the race in 2020.
There are five more races on Tuesday including the Supreme Novices' Hurdle and Arkle Chase.
We'll bring you all the pre-festival news throughout Monday and have a new live blog every day from Tuesday once the action gets underway.

Paul Nicholls runner on day one
Paul Nicholls will do his best all week to keep the Irish challengers at bay and has three runners on the festival's opening day.
The first of these comes in the corral of chief novices when he will saddle Tahmuras. Tahmuras is undefeated over hurdles.
The last of these victories came at the Tolworth Novices' Class 1 Hurdle at Sandown.
Paul only spoke alongbetfair.comand said he has a lot of skill, was well schooled on Thursday morning and probably wants two and a half miles by now. Tahmuras pressed on determinedly to land the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown and the form of that race was advertised very well. The faster you drive in the Supreme, the better it runs. I see him in the form of Noland and Al Ferof, two strong stayers who won this race for us. He's in great shape and has a good chance.
It will be interesting to see how his form holds up against the Irish battalion.
Nicholls' team runner-up for the day rides in the Ultima. Threeunderthrufive has found life tough away from that high mark this year and Paul said he thinks he's still a bit high in the handicap but is hoping for a good run.
He's found life harder this season and his handicap mark is probably still at least 5 pounds too high. Threeunderthrufive have won at Cheltenham before and will master the floor so I'm hoping for a good run on a first tongue tie.
His runners' finale for the day comes in the day's penultimate race in the form of Afadil in the Boodles Handicap Hurdle.
Afadil was impressive winning his first two hurdles for Nicholls but was disappointed last time out when his blood didn't quite match. If you were going to forgive him that run, he should have a chance in a wide-open race.
His blood was wrong when we brought him home from Haydock but it was back to 100% when we tested him a few days ago and he is happy with his work again. If he hadn't run at Haydock he'd be smaller on the Boodles bets and I'd say he has a lively shot either way.
Nicholls can look forward to some of his better chances later in the week as Hermes Allen and Bravemansgame have their best chances of getting on the scoreboard.

BOOKIES FEAR FACILE VEGA ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
The festival's opening race is the Supreme Novices' Hurdle and bookmakers fear a disastrous start if Facile Vega is set to cross the finish line.
Punters are sticking to the Mullins-trained runner with Paul Townend on board. The bettors are happy to forgive the son of Cheltenham hero Quevega.

— Rennpost (@RacingPost)March 13, 2023
Facile Vega was tailed in the field at Leopardstown as they were driving very fast early in the morning and was found to be lame the next day.
Paul Townend told Ladbrokes exclusively that Facile Vega is one of my main riders at the festival and it's great to have him in the first race.
Paul admits you have to be the forgiving type to forget your last run but thinks they may have gotten the tactics wrong that day and is looking forward to having the opportunity to make the last day right.
Paul Townend told Ladbrokes exclusively that there was no denying that the Dublin Racing Festival had to forgive him. We probably got the tactics wrong, but this is a different day, track and race. Please God we can make up for this defeat.
Ladbrokes are very fearful for the day whether Facile Vega will get away in the first race as players weighed in behind him.
Ladbrokes' Nicola McGeady said: "Facile Vega and Honeysuckle are our main concerns tomorrow. The dream start to the festival for us would be beating Willie Mullins' favourite. It would certainly calm the nerves, that's for sure. Overall, however, it looks like tomorrow could be a close battle between bettors and bookies.”
All will be revealed just after 1:30 tomorrow.

Charlie Swan compares Constitution Hill to Istabraq
The main race on day one is the Champion Hurdle and Constitution Hill is the one to beat. He was a revelation about hurdles and looks like he could be one of the best hurdlers we've seen lately.
One man who has ridden one of the finest hurdlers of modern times is Charlie Swan, who accompanied Istabraq to three champion hurdle wins.
Speaking to Boylesports, Swan compared Constitution Hill to the mighty Istabraq.
“He's an amazing, amazing horse. He seems to have everything - he has speed, he lays well, he jumps well and you can ride him anywhere. You know, he would remind you of Istabraq. He has an incredible amount. Istabraq was quite similar in that he jumped twice as fast and that's what you need to win champion hurdles."
*Quotes courtesy ofwww.boylesports.com
Swan loves everything about Constitution Hill and doesn't see a chance he'll be beaten if he shows up in good form, although he says State Man is a good horse.
"He looks unbeatable. I think he can only be beaten if he's not right that day. Anything can happen and that's why we always have to attack each other because horses are not robots - they can have days off.”
*Quotes courtesy ofwww.boylesports.com
Like many racing fans, he is very passionate about Constitution Hill and thinks he could be one of the best hurdlers in racing.
“However, he has the potential to become one of the greats. He's trained by a good man, owned by a good man, and ridden by a good guy too. So there's no reason he can't. He's got all the ability as long as he stays healthy, but it's not easy.
*Quotes courtesy ofwww.boylesports.com
Going unbeaten under the rules, Constitution Hill is a very hot favorite to hold that record.

Rachael Blackmore remembers last year's Gold Cup
The Gold Cup is the week's main race and last year's winner, A Plus Tard aims to emulate Al Boum Photo and Best Mate by competing back-to-back in the most prestigious race of the year.
Earlier in the week, speaking exclusively to Betfair, Rachael recalled that special day.
Rachael remembers the closing stages of the race and how you can usually hear the commentator and the sounds of the crowd, but at that moment there was only one thing on her mind.
"You're so focused on the race that you can't hear the sounds of the crowd as much as you might think."
"When you cross the line, it's like suddenly - like A Plus Tard did - you're letting in all the outside elements and being swamped by this immense noise. It's incredible line, it's like someone just pushes the volume knob and cranks it all the way up."
*Quotes courtesy ofhttps://www.betfair.com/sport/horse-racing
Blackmore is reunited with A Plus Tard as they attempt to emulate some of the greats by going back to back. Blackmore thrives on the pressure of riding these horses to the top of the market and wouldn't want to start the biggest week of the year any differently.
"There's so much expectation that goes into a week like this but I think it's pressure you want."
I want to feel like it's going to continue next week because that in turn means I've got some very good rides next week. It's pressure, but oddly enough, it's pressure you crave and want. "
*Quotes courtesy ofhttps://www.betfair.com/sport/horse-racing
Blackmore heads into the week with plenty of live chances, and at the top are two horses who won last year's festival, Honeysuckle and A Plus Tard. We wish Rachael all the best this week and hope Honeysuckle can shine in the mare corral on opening day.

Leading driver and coach bets
While the horse is the main attraction of the week, the top jockey and trainer title is an interesting part of the week.
As with many races throughout the week, the combination of Paul Townend and Willie Mullins is a very popular choice and has odds in their respective categories.
Last year Townend finished the meeting clear at the top of the jockey score with six winners and is a clear favorite to repeat the feat with 2/5.
Mullins dominated the trainer standings with 11 winners and looks set to do the same this year at an 1/8 premium.
Gordon Elliot looks certain to have a good week with five favorites heading into the week and plenty of other horses with chances but he will need a perfect week to dethrone Mullins at the top of the standings.

The Coral Cup Handicap Hurdlers
* Prices apply frombetway.com
The Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle looks like a very tricky puzzle and is currently 13/2 the field with 26 runners set to make their way.
Leading the market is Charles Byrnes' Run For Oscar (13/2). Run For Oscar was a good two-way horse for Charles, who won the Cesawitch flatback in October. He has completed two nice preparation runs for the race and has a chance as a favourite.
Camprond (7/1) is the next best bet and seems to have a very good chance. After a couple of below average runs and a failed stint while chasing, he's returning to the hurdles from a very nice mark. Last year he was fourth in that race when conditions turned against him but he made no mistake winning easily at Punchestown by a pound less than running away here.
HMS Seahorse (17/2) is another high quality dual purpose horse that has done very well for the hurdle race. Since joining Paul Nolan's court he has won twice on the flat and easily made a competitive handicap hurdle at Navan. The gelding surgery prior to this run seems to have worked the oracle and he might have a few pounds up his sleeve.
In the same colors as last year's Commander Of Fleet, this is Beacon Edge (12/1). He's been good company lately and is returning to Handicaps. He already ran in the Stayers Hurdle in 2021 and finished fourth. Then he went hunting and while he may have won a Grade A, he never seemed quite comfortable. He has since returned to the hurdles well this season and seems to be in love with the game again. I think he's a live runner in a very competitive race.

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase Runner
*Prices courtesy ofhttps://bettingsites.co.uk/
The penultimate race of the day is the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase. This again looks like an extremely competitive race with twenty runners lined up for positions. The Irish appear to have a stranglehold on the top of the market.

JP McManus is also represented by Dinoblue (11/2) and A Wave Of The Sea (40/1). Dinoblue looks like a horse made for such a race. She enjoys a good canter and the set-up for this race looks ideal. Even if A Wave Of The Sea doesn't seem to affect his goal, he is an admirable horse that would be a pleasure to own.
Final Orders has been getting stronger over fences, up nearly fifty pounds on his hurdle rating. He has proven to be very versatile, winning rides of two to three miles. He looked better than ever when he won at Leopardstown and goes into the race as one of the favorites, priced at 5/1.
In terms of prizes, Third Time Lucki (10/1) seems to be the best of the English challengers. After being out of the winners' enclosure for almost a year, he returned to form to win at Sandown last time out. There is no doubt that he has the ability to win a race of this nature but he will have to do his best to keep the Irish runners out of the winner's enclosure.

Weatherby Champion Bumper Runner
The Weatherbys Champion Bumper has attracted a large field of 24 runners, of which Willie Mullins will saddle 10.

Wille Mullins seems to have a very strong hand, but he doesn't saddle the favorite. Coached by John Kiely, A Dream To Share is the current favourite. A Dream To Share was impressive as he won two summer bumpers before being rested.
He came back from that break to win at the Dublin Racing Festival, beating Fact To File who recaptured and selected Patrick Mullins. A Dream To Share needs to prove he can handle softer underfoot conditions but seems to have a chance as a favourite.
– Stephen R Power (@Rennblogger)February 10, 2023JP McManus has bought stunning Leopardstown winner A DREAM TO SHARE in a private deal!!
He remains in training with John Kiely.pic.twitter.com/SEii31Z6Pm
Paul Townend has chosen to ride It's For Me who was a very impressive winner in his only start under the rules at Navan. As with all of these runners, there's not much form to judge from and they could be anything.
Gordon Elliot's team is led by Better Days Ahead, who won at the Fairyhouse against Chapeau De Soleil, who resists again. Better Days Ahead looks like a good horse for the future and he will do well in jumping. King Of Kingsfield, No Time To Wait and Samui are the others running for Team Elliot.
Fun Fun Fun, Western Diego, Westport Cove, Chosen Witness, Lecky Watson, Loughglynn and Captain Cody are the remaining members of the Mullins Battalion.
The England challenge will be led by Queens Gamble, who not long ago was a favorite for the race after winning a listed bumper over track and distance. She underperformed the last time she might have gone home early. If she can get back to her best form, she's not out.
Captain Teague, Favor And Fortune, Fiercely Proud, Beachcomber and Shinji make up the English representatives.
Encanto Bruno, Fascile Mode and D Art D Art for Thomas Cooper are the rest of the Irish challenge.
Lukas Keena
Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase runners
The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase attracts 16 runners and the race looks like another great opportunity for the Irish to put another winner on the board.
Delta Work leads the strong Irish challenge. Delta Work lowered the colors of racing legend Tiger Roll at this race last year. He had a smooth start to the race and appears to have a good chance of giving Gordon Elliot a third race win from the last three overtimes.

Galvin
Mortal
hard linepic.twitter.com/iaJc3IhcaF
If Delta Work isn't set to win, his stablemate Galvin looks like the next best thing. Galvin is a former Grade 1 winner and finished fourth at last year's Gold Cup. He's been a bit of a disappointment since his first win this season but being relegated to this type of race should make him more comfortable and get him back on his feet.
Another former Class 1 winner returning to cross country racing is Franco De Port. He is another horse whose form has waned and who is competitive in Class 1 races. He will enjoy the drop in class and once he gets used to the nature of this race it can be competitive.
Gin On Lime, Foxy Jacks, Plan Of Attack, Mortal and Hardline make up the rest of the Irish Challenge for the race while Back On The Lash, Deise Aba, Snow Leopardess, Diesel D'Allier, Lieutenant Rocca, Coup De Pinceau, Francky Du Berlais and former Easysland race winner make up the home team.

Champion Chase Statements
7 runners were declared to take their chance in the Champion Chase.

Edwardstone looked like the likely winner as he jumped last and led Editeur Du Gite, but he fought back valiantly and led his rival in the final steps with Energumene in third place.
Energumene was unlikely to find form that day and should be closer this time. The Champion Chase is always one of the best races of the week and this year's renewal looks as exciting as any.
While there may not be a standout two-mile chaser among them, this looks like a great competition.
Captain Guinness, last year's runner-up Funambule Sivola, Greaneteen and Nube Negra make up the rest of the field.
Lukas Keena
Brown Advisory Novices Chase Statements
11 runners are competing for the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase. Gerri Colombe is leading the market and seems a very worthy favorite.
Gerri Colombe is undefeated and looks like he could be an equally exciting contender to run at the festival. The bottom seems to be coming in his favor and will be a tough bet.
Willie Mullins is well represented again with five runners heading for the post. Sir Gerhard seems to be their choice. He won on this map last year when he won the Ballymore. His season was rushed after missing the first half through injury.
He made his debut over fences at Gowran. His jumping let him down early on as he made a terrible mistake at the end and luckily stayed in the race with one lap to go. He must have improved from that performance to play here.
Sir Gerhards Irish Jig@gowranpark. You stick your left leg in and your right leg out... HealyRacing picpic.twitter.com/KgyofjxVkR
– Anne Marie Duff (@amdracing)26 January 2023
Sir Gerhard is joined by stablemates Adamantly Chosen, Bronn, I Am Maximux and Ramillies.
The Real Whacker has shown his fondness for Cheltenham, winning twice over fences there this season. He looks like fences made him and he's sure to make a bold bid from the front.
Last year's Stayers Hurdle runner-up Thyme Hill takes his chance here. Last time he showed his best effect winning the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton but the form of that race is questionable although he was impressive.
Amirite, Thunder Rock and Gallia Des Liteaux make up the rest of the field.
Lukas Keena
Ballymore Novices' Obstacle Explanations
Wednesday's race begins with the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle. 10 runners are declared to run with Impaire Et Passe, the favorite, after he was a big talking horse at the Cheltenham Preview Circuit. Willie Mullins has also declared Champ Kiely, Gaelic Warrior and Ho My Lord.
Barry Connell has made no secret of how confident he is in Good Land and he will take his chance here. Barry has said in several interviews that he believes he has the best horse in the race. It will be interesting to see how he fares against the Mullins Battalion.
- Racing TV (@RacingTV)March 12, 2023"I think we have the top two horses in each of the races."
Barry Connell remains exceptionally optimistic about the chances of Marine Nationale (Supreme) and Good Land (Ballymore).#CheltenhamFestival pic.twitter.com/T7lfK5rTXF
The home team is led by Paul Nicholls-trained Hermes Allen, who was the favorite for the race before word of Impaire Et Passe broke. Hermes Allen spoke on the track and has been flawless so far. It will be interesting to see how his form compares to the Irish form.
American Mike is on a salvage mission after two lackluster performances. Last year's Champion Bumper runner-up impressed on his debut over hurdles at Down Royal before completing two disappointing runs. The ability to be there in the finish is definitely there, it just depends on him showing up in the same form he was at Cheltenham last year.
This looks like a great race to get Wednesday's racing going.
Lukas Keena
